IMMIGRATION LAW PARALEGAL
Position description:
Opportunity to work in a fast-paced, interesting environment assisting individual immigrants, businesses, and families. Under supervision of an attorney, manage cases for Permanent Resident status, Nonimmigrant (temporary) status, Consular Processing, Naturalization, Employer Compliance, and other immigration matters for individuals, businesses, families, and humanitarian causes. Assist clients in gathering and organizing supporting evidence, as well as drafting forms for attorney and client review. Oversee and manage assigned cases in case management system and maintain and organize firm calendar, including appointments, interviews, hearings, and reminders. Manage Spanish-language phone line and serve as interpreter for clients in attorney meetings.
The position focuses on all immigration matters including immigrant and nonimmigrant cases, employment and family-based, consular processing, humanitarian based (Asylum, VAWA, U & T status). May also occasionally assist with non-immigration matters such as contract, personal injury, family, and civil litigation cases.
Required/Desired qualifications:
2+ years of experience as a Paralegal; experience in immigration matters, highly preferred
Degree in related field, preferably with a paralegal studies certificate
Bilingual (Spanish/English) – both written and conversational
Highly-organized, ability to handle a large number of cases
Case and calendar management in law firm setting
Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, and experience with cloud-based case management systems, such as INSZoom, LawLogix, or similar cloud-based systems
On-line and off-line legal research; drafting forms and support letters and assembling administrative filings; experience drafting motions and briefs and assembling court filings, preferred
Be able to communicate knowledgeably with legal team and clients regarding case status and strategy under attorney guidance
Intelligent, fun, and compassionate personality
Likes to problem solve and learn new things about people and systems
Salary, Benefits, and Availability:
Salary $32,000-$40,000, based on experience. Vacation and retirement benefits available. Position will remain open until filled.
