Amber Blasingame, Associate AttorneyAmber is the lead immigration attorney at Hanes & Bartels LLC focusing on business, family, and humanitarian matters. She has worked in immigration law since 1995 including managing the immigration team in the US and Canada for one of the “Big 4” accounting firms' multi-national consulting practices, managing the legal support team for a private immigration law firm, and as a licensed immigration attorney since 2010. Ms. Blasingame earned her law degree from the University of Denver, where she was a senior staff editor on the Denver University Law Review, participated in the DU asylum clinic, and received a scholastic excellence award in advanced immigration law. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and has served on the Colorado AILA Chapter Annual Conference and New Members committees. Ms. Blasingame is also Treasurer of the El Paso County Bar Association (EPCBA) in Colorado and the Colorado Women's Bar Association (CWBA). She has been recognized by Colorado Springs Style Magazine as one of the top immigration law attorneys in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Petula N. McShiras, Associate Attorney
Petula joined Hanes & Bartels in 2017, focusing on business, family, and naturalization law. Prior to joining Hanes & Bartels, LLC, Petula worked as the Supervisor for the Littleton Immigrant Resources Center, managing the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) recognized program that is a 3-time recipient of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Citizenship & Integration Grant. Her legal work there focused on Naturalization law. From September 2011- September 2013, Petula served as an Attorney Advisor for the Denver Immigration Court through the Attorney General’s Attorney Honors Program. In the past, she has presented on the unauthorized practice of law, the intersection of immigration and public benefits, refugee and asylum law, family-based visas, and naturalization. Petula received her JD from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, graduating in the top 5% of her class and an MA in Conflict Resolution from the University of Denver. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame, graduating cum laude. Petula is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and currently serves on the Executive Committee for the Colorado Chapter. She is also a Board Member of the Pikes Peak Justice and Pro Bono Center. Prior to law school, Petula worked in refugee resettlement in Phoenix, Arizona where she met her husband. Petula and her family have lived in Colorado for more than 10 years and love to call it “home”.
Ruth C. Bailey, Immigration Paralegal
Ruth C. Bailey is one of our immigration paralegals at Hanes & Bartels LLC who works with many of our Spanish-speaking clients. Ms. Bailey has over 24 years of experience as an immigration paralegal in business, family, and humanitarian matters. In January 2015, she joined the firm of Hanes & Bartels LLC. Ms. Bailey is fluent in Spanish and attends to the needs of our Spanish-speaking clients in-person and via our Spanish phone line (719.433.7571). She says she appreciates the good fortune to work on what she enjoys, and believes it is a pleasure for her to have the opportunity to serve the community.
Isabel Guevara, Immigration Paralegal
Isabel Guevara is one of our immigration paralegals at Hanes & Bartels LLC. She has been working with our law firm since February 2016. Her immigration background has been with both family-based and employment-based cases. Isabel enjoys helping people navigate through the ever-changing immigration climate. Isabel is also fluently bilingual and provides interpreting for Spanish speaking clients, as well as translating of documents. She is a Colorado native who was born on the western slope and then moved to Colorado Springs as a teenager with her family.
